Troy\, captain of his schools basketball team meets Gabriella\, self-proclaimed brainiac on winter vacation where they are forced to sing karaoke and are surprised to enjoy it. When Troy finds that Gabriella is a new student at his school\, East High he has to confront the status quo at his school telling him he can only be one dimensional. The drama club president Sharpay Evans and her twin Ryan Evans dont appreciate this change in the status quo and launch a plot to remain in control.
